Brook Hall, Horse Park, Magheragall,
Lisburn. Brook
Hall is a totally unique Northern Ireland wedding venue, situated in the
Brookhall Estate and Brookhall Historical Farm. The
Brook Hall is a restored 12th century church building, (no longer
used as a practising church)
The first occupants on the site date to around 1000 B.C.
The building originally had a round tower but
most of this was taken down in
1790. Silver coins dating to Elizabeth 1 (1558-1603) and Charles 1
(1625-1649) were found in and around the church building.
There
is a path leading from the church building to what was called
a ‘Holy Well’. It was typical of that period when sacred curative
properties were attributed to its waters.
Such wells survived up to recent times, becoming known as Sunday wells
since this was the popular day to take of the ‘healing waters’. Scraps of
cloth were used for dipping in the waters and hung on the surrounding hedges as
a testimony to the visit.
Today the old building oozes charm and character and represents a totally
unique experience in wedding venues, providing the perfect intimate family
setting for a wedding to remember. Brook
Hall is surrounded by the truly romantic estate grounds, which includes, the
secret garden, a fantastic fountain, Brookhall lake, the ancient well and acres
of beautiful farm and parkland, all of which represent idyllic photographic
opportunities for that special day.
