ADVOCACY

Advocacy’s main object is to influence government policy makers, civil society and other influential partners to create a conducive environment in which our communities can adopt, promote, and live a sustained peaceful life.

This involves;

·        Building and or participating in coalitions

·        Grass root organizing

·        Media campaigns

·        Lobbing

Need for Advocacy;

Through advocacy policy makers and peace partners are made to fully understand and appreciate the pertinent need for comprehensive peace mainstreaming and the need for participation of everyone in the  process of peace-building.

STRATEGY
NPI’s advocacy strategic plan is summarized in the table below;

ACTIVITIES

NETWORKING

-         Phone calling

-         Writing briefing documents

-         Meetings with individuals

-          Public meetings

RAISING AWARENESS & MOBILISATION

NPI intends to inform the general public on the whole phenomena of peace building so that they become aware of the situation.  Awareness rising also tries to achieve participation and tolerance.  This is NPI’s starting point of the whole advocacy process.

Feelings and a general  legacy among Ugandans that violence is a means readily available for use in the event of a conflict and unresolved exists   The attitudes  and value systems as well as beliefs within communities  are not peace friendly and therefore people need to be told about  ways of building through   a participatory way
