OUR PLEDGE The
Centre intends to promote eco-friendly in the centre & school in the
following ways: 1. Reduce environmental degradation by recycling
– paper, clothes by accepting donated clothes, linens, books etc from across
the world 2. Capture rain water by constructing a water tank
in other words water recycling 3. Promote energy efficiency use of equipments and
cooking material such as ceramic jikos, ceramic pots and reduce dependency of
candles and firewood. For lighting needs by installing a photovoltaic (PV)
system, this will help children study at night instead of using candles that
ultimately lead to fire hazards and burns. For cooking purposes, the ceramic
jikos are useful in reducing number of firewood used, and additionally the solar
power systems may run small equipments such as radio or TV system for
children’s programs. 4. Plant trees around the compound to prevent soil
erosion and provide catchments for the rain and provide shade during the sunny
and rainy seasons\ 5. Cultivate food in the
shambas (small farms) for use at the centre and also animal husbandry where
the chickens raised provide eggs and cow(s) providing milk for the daily
consumption 6. Making home-made soaps for washing purposes and
laundry use and maintain the overall hygiene in the centre. |
